Course Title: Research: The Crucial Component of CAM
Course Description: Complementary and Alternative Medicine, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, has seen rapid growth and acceptance over the past twenty years. However, while the commercial sector has been busy developing countless CAM products, it has done so with little support or encouragement from the medical community. This course discusses the complexities surrounding the role of research within CAM therapies and outlines methods for designing successful clinical research projects.

Instructor Bio: Libang Zhang graduated from the Shanghai University of TCM in 1966 and was the director of a liver disease research institute in China before coming to the U.S. After moving to the U.S., he worked in the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as a manager of a diagnostic lab in the Center for Comparative Medicine and Surgery (CCMS). He currently serves as the Chair of the Oriental Medicine program at the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has published many articles in China and in the U.S. and has held many academic and honorary positions in the U.S. and China.
